How to Volunteer

The Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation needs ongoing as well as event specific volunteers. Volunteers can either join an existing committee or share resources for several committees.

Silent Auction:

The Silent Auction committee solicits items for for event silent, and sometimes live, auctions. Most events include some kind of auction. Auction items can be collected on a year-round basis. Occasionally, on-line auctions may also be held, especially if items do not bring in minimum bids at, or are not suited for, the live auctions.

Most events also include some kind of reception(s). Vendors to provide beverages and hors d’oeuvres or desserts are always needed. Although we have a number of generous ongoing donors, we also don’t wish to overtap each resource and need to constantly add new ones. Volunteers are needed to help in recruiting food, wine and other beverage vendors.

We are in constant search of media sponsorship and contacts for print, web and television. Media sponsorships save greatly in advertising costs, helping to maximize funds distributed to beneficiary agencies.

Gift Bags:

Quality items for Host gift bags can include promotional merchandise for businesses that are useful to most people. Cosmetics and personal care items, t-shirts, picture frames, phone cards, pens, promo CDs, etc. are examples of past items. Businesses who would like to promote their produces by donating gift bags items, or volunteers wishing to help on this committee should contact Jason at the number listed above.

Event Production:

We need people with theater resources to assist with finding theatrical resources such as costumes, make-up artists, hair stylist, etc. People with stage crew experience are also sometimes needed.

Program Ad Sales:

The sale of program ads is another way of increasing revenue for Help is on the Way beneficiaries. We need someone to oversee this project. Ad spec materials will be provided but someone to send letters, make follow-up phone calls and coordinate between ad buyers and Ken is needed.

General Event Volunteers:

General volunteers are needed for mailing parties and at Help is on the Way events for event and silent auction set-ups and take downs as well as serving staff at the receptions. Please contact David if you can be available for these kinds of duties. Next major event is July 30th at the Masonic Center in San Francisco.
