Help is on the Way Kick-Off Party

Two-time Emmy Award winning, out comedienne JUDY GOLD opened the program portion of our 2008 Kick-off Party with some hilarious tales about her Jewish mother and how she became one herself before scampering off to get ready for her show at the Marines Memorial Theatre, "25 Questions for a Jewish Mother."
Two of REAF's board members, Beth Schnitzer and Rosalinda Kahlani (also representing Wells Fargo) presented checks to the beneficiaries of our recent holiday gala, "Help is on the Way for the Holidays IX." Both Meals of Marin and Positive Resource Center received $20,000 checks as beneficiaries of that event. "Help is on the Way" alums, Meg Mackay, accompanied by her husband, Billy Philadelphia and Tim Hockenberry both performed for our crowd and REAF's Ken Henderson and Joe Seiler introduced the beneficiaries of our upcoming summer gala, "Help is on the Way XIV," slated for Sunday, Aug. 3rd at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre. Beneficiaries include Aguilas, Larkin Street Youth Services, Meals of Marin, Positive Resource Center and Vital Life Services. Each agency gave a brief description of what services their agencies provide and how funds provided from this event impact their agency. Supporters got a first-hand demonstration of the kind of food Meals of Marin provide as they provided the scrumptious hors d'oeuvres for the party. Guests also enjoyed complimentary wine and no-host cocktails before and after the program.
