FRENCHIE DAVIS

FrenchieDavisFrenchie Davis was born in Los Angeles, Calif. She began as a theatre student at Washington DC’s Howard University. While studying there, she got her first acting/singing job playing one of the street urchins in a production of “Little Shop of Horrors” with a small theatre company in Germany. The same German company later rehired her for a production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” the following year. After her return to the states, she auditioned for “American Idol”...and was flown to LA, made her mark on the show, and turned out to be a huge favorite with America to win the show.

Frenchie worked in 2003 as a Grammy correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight” and performed the song “And I Am Telling You" on the set of ET for the show as well. She was then cast in the Broadway show “RENT,” from which she took a leave of absence to portray the role of ‘Effie White’ in the West coast tour of the play “DreamGirls.” Frenchie also starred as ‘Betty Currey’ in the comedy satire about President Clinton, called "Monica" the musical. This was done for the New York musical theater festival. Frenchie was originally signed to star in “RENT” for 6 months but it turned into nearly 4 years. Before she left the show in early April 07, she issued this message to all her fans in the Broadway community. "After nearly 4 wonderful years, I am sad (and a little happy) to announce that I will be leaving “Rent” in April...I want to take this chance to say thank you to all of the fans and people that came out to support during my time in the show...I also would like to offer my sincerest thanks to the producers of the show for allowing me the opportunity to contribute to such a wonderful piece of theatre history.... I know that I will look back at these times as some of the best of my life...thank you so much!," she wrote.

In August 07, Frenchie stepped into the shoes of Jennifer Holliday and starred in a one women stage play (for Hartford, Conn. Stage) based on the legendary gospel great Mahalia Jackson called “Sing, Mahalia, Sing’. Frenchie is currently in the process of starting to record her debut CD, which will be a combination of the classics, Broadway and a few new original songs. Starting around mid Nov. of this year, Frenchie will start a nationwide tour that will end in early June of 2009. She will be starring in the 30th Anniversary of the hit Broadway play called “Ain’t Misbehavin.’ along with her friend and co-star from her American Idol days, Ruben Studdard. MARILU HENNER

Marilu Henner has starred on stage, in several hit TV series, films, commercials, television movies and specials. She has co-starred with some of Hollywood's leading men and worked with some of the best directors in Hollywood and on Broadway. She believes that with good health you can do it all. She has an incredible amount of energy, replenished constantly with good health and compatible habits. It is the key to managing the hectic pace of being Marilu Henner. Now her secret is out. The knowledge and discipline which this actress, author and full-time mom has gathered to maintain her demanding schedule is available at bookstores, in the form of Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover, Marilu Henner's 30-Day Total Health Makeover, Healthy Life Kitchen, Healthy Kids, I Refuse To Raise A Brat, and Healthy Holidays. These books address her years of being overweight and stifled by bad health, and her journey of discovery to good health. It is a story of Marilu's own trial and error, noting the connections made and compulsions untangled through knowledge, observation and understanding. It helps us reevaluate our ideas of fitness, debunks the quick-fix diet, and gives us a holistic approach to health that can be maintained for a lifetime.

Marilu's entire life is a testimony to the power of her approach to health. That energy and her extraordinary talents as an actress were unleashed to rave reviews on Broadway as "Roxie Hart" in "Chicago," across the country as "Annie" in the National Company of "Annie Get Your Gun" and most recently as "Lee" the sexy provocative stranger in "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife." Marilu started her professional acting career starring in the first national touring company of "Grease," later appearing with the Broadway company. This was followed by "Over Here," "Pal Joey," and later in "Social Security" directed by Mike Nichols.

Marilu worked on the TV show "Taxi," with Judd Hirsch, Danny DeVito, Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Conaway, Carol Kane, and Andy Kaufman. Later she worked on "Evening Shade," side by side with some of the most talented actors around; Burt Reynolds, Charles Durning, Elizabeth Ashley, Michael Jeter, and Hal Holbrook. Finally she converted her ease as a talk-show guest into adeptness as a talk-show host with the "Marilu show". Steering the project by relentless curiosity, she undertook issues to explore them, not to exploit them.
As executive producer of the "Marilu show," Marilu formed a production company. Its first project included "Medicine Ball," an offbeat Fox series, and critically acclaimed ABC Movie of the Week, "Abandoned & Deceived," which told the true story of Gerri Jenson, the founder of ACES, an organization which helps trace "deadbeat" dads and moms. Marilu and Jenson also testified in Washington DC, to support congressional legislation to combat the problem. After seeing the positive results of her support and presence, she starred in another film, "Fight For Justice: the Nancy Conn Story." With this project she hoped to shed light on the issue of women who are stalked and battered.

Braiding together her skills, experiences, and resources; Marilu discovered a deep and satisfying role using her entertainment arena. Again using the image of the whole system, she set her eye on worldwide social problems.
This makes sense considering she is the mother of two boys: Nicholas and Joseph. With her second pregnancy she hosted a documentary called "We're Having a Baby". The camera followed Marilu through out her pregnancy and more specifically from a guest spot on "Comic Relief" to her four a.m. delivery just a few hours later. And believe it or not, even in labor she keeps her comedic timing.

Bringing her message of good health and vibrant living to new and growing audiences, Marilu premiered a new television series "Shape Up Your Life" on Discovery's FitTV network. The show continues to be a fan favorite.
Throughout all of this Marilu has continually starred in feature films, including "Blood Brothers" (with Richard Gere), "Between the Lines" (with Jeff Goldblum), "Hammett" (with Frederic Forrest), "LA Story" (with Steve Martin), "Johnny Dangerously" (with Micheal Keaton), "Perfect" (with John Travolta), "The Man Who Loved Women" (with Burt Reynolds), "Rustler's Rhapsody" (with Tom Berenger) and "Noises Off" (with Christopher Reeve and Michael Caine), to name a few. She has worked with Joan Micklin Silver, Robert Mulligan, Wim Wenders, Blake Edwards, John Madden, Amy Heckerling, Jim Bridges, Hugh Wilson, Mick Jackson, and Peter Bogdanovich. What's next for Marilu? Look for her on-line at marilu.com, as well as in the bookstores with several new titles coming soon. This is her second appearance in a "Help is on the Way" production.

It made me want to get involved, and do something." Lake repeated the cause in October 2002, again taking place in New York City. Ricki also performed in "The Vagina Monologues," spreading the message about violence against women. In June 2003 and 2004, Lake attended a celebrity carnival benefiting the Elizabeth Galser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Ricki’s contract agreement with distributor Sony Pictures Television ran out in 2004. Although Sony Pictures Television had stations signed up for a 12th season, she chose not to renew her contract. A possible sitcom deal with CBS for the following fall did not get picked up. In the summer of 2006, Ricki hosted the hit CBS series “Gameshow Marathon.” The show paid tribute to classic game shows such as “The Price is Right” and featured celebrities playing for charities of their choice. Ricki also completed work on an indie film called “Park,” starring alongside Cheri Oteri and William Baldwin. “The Business of Being Born,” a documentary produced by Ricki Lake premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The two Emmys she has won were for her 1977 variety appearance on "The Muppet Show" and for a dramatic guest appearance on "The Rockford Files" in 1978. The Tony was for her 1975 triumph on Broadway as Googie Gomez in "The Ritz." The Grammy was for her 1972 performance on "The Electric Company Album" for children which was based on the long-running children’s television show of the same name.

Along the way she received dozens of other show business awards, most notably The Golden Globe Award for her role "West Side Story," The Golden Apple Award, and in 1968 the Joseph Jefferson Award as best actress in Chicago’s theatrical season in 1968 for her brilliant performance as Serafina in "The Rose Tattoo." In 1985 she repeated her Chicago triumph and was awarded the prestigious Sarah Siddons Award for her portrayal of Olive Madison in the female version of "The Odd Couple." In 1995, Ms. Moreno received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ms. Moreno was born Rosa Dolores Alverio in Humacao, Puerto Rico. When she was five years old she and her mother moved to New York. The following year, she started dance lessons. At age 13 she made her Broadway debut in "Skydrift" which starred Eli Wallach. Then, in the true tradition of Hollywood, a talent scout arranged a meeting for the seventeen-year old with Louis B. Mayer and she was signed for a contract with MGM. From that point on her career advanced steadily. She made some thirty films early in her career, too often typecast as a Mexican spitfire or an Indian maiden. During that period she appeared in films with Richard Widmark, Esther Williams, Mario Lanza, Susan Hayward, Tyrone Power and Gary Cooper. She appeared in the marvelous "Singin' in the Rain" starring Gene Kelly. She was also featured as Tuptim in "The King and I" with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr, but it was only after she won an Academy Award for her outstanding performance as Anita in "West Side Story" that she was finally recognized as a major talent. In 1962, she moved to London where she was featured in Hal Prince’s "She Loves Me." Rita then returned to New York to star in the Lorraine Hansbury’s "The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window." On Broadway, she has also appeared as the female lead with Robert Shaw in "Gantry," in "The Last of the Red Hot Lovers" opposite Jimmy Coco, followed by a Tony Award nomination for her role in "The National Health." Rita then starred in "The Ritz" for which she received the Tony.
In 1967 Ms. Moreno resumed her film career playing opposite Marlon Brando in "The Night of the Following Day," then with James Garner in "Marlowe," as Alan Arkin's girlfriend in "Popi" and in Mike Nichol's production of "Carnal Knowledge." She then starred in the film version of "The Ritz" and went on to do Alan Alda's "The Foour Seasons" followed by the highly acclaimed Columbia Pictures release "I Like It Like That." In 1995 Ms. Moreno appeared in the Showtime film "Wharf Rat" and in the feature film "Angus" with George C. Scott. She was the lead in the independent film "Carlo's Wake" and in 199 she starred in the film "Blue Moon" opposite Ben Gazzara. The following year she appeared in the highly acclaimed movie "Pinero" starring Benjamin Bratt and in 2002 she completed work in the John Stayles film, "Casa de los Babys". In 204 she had a featured role in the independent film, "April Showers."

In 1981, she returned to Broadway and appeared once again opposite Jimmy Coco in "Wally’s Cafe." Her most recent Broadway appearance was in the female version of Neil Simon’s "The Odd Couple." In 1996, she starred as Norma Desmond in the London production of "Sunset Boulevard." In 2004 Ms. Moreno received rave reviews for her interpretation as Maria Callas in the Terrance McNally play "Master Class." Ms. Moreno has appeared in regional theatre in such diverse roles as Lola in "Damn Yankees," "Annie Sullivan in "The Miracle Worker," Doris in "The Owl and the Pussycat," Amanda Wingfield in "The Glass Menageri and Mama Rose in "Gypsy." It may be said that Rita Moreno, in portraying an Irish teacher, an Italian widow, a reformed prostitute, a lady evangelist, and English lady and a southern belle has broken the mold in Latino stereotyping.

Ms. Moreno has also been the guest star on a wide variety of television productions both here and abroad. She is proud to have been a featured artist for many years on "The Electric Company," the highly regarded educational television program for children. She starred in her own TV series, the sitcom version of the film "9 to 5." She then played opposite Burt Reynolds in "B.L. Stryker." In 1995, Ms. Moreno returned to the New York stage in Anne Meara's "After Play" and in Circle Repertory's production of "Size of the World."

BRUCE VILANCH

Lisa ViggianoBruce Vilanch is a two-faced fella: Bearded, he is one of the most sought-after comedy writers in Hollywood, winner of a bunch of Emmys and noted as the “Hollywood Square” just to the left of Whoopi. Shaved, he spent two years as Edna Turnblad, Baltimore housewife and superstar, on tour and on Broadway in the smash musical adaptation of the John Waters film “Hairspray.”

Most recently, Bruce was seen on VH1’s popular fitness and nutrition reality-series, “Celebrity Fit Club,” which finished its third season. Participating in a type of extreme-makeover-body-edition, the Celebrity Fit Clubbers went through 100 days of Fit Club training. Along the way, they learned about fitness, diets and nutrition.

Who knows what Bruce will look like for his next performance? In addition to “Hairspray,” he has appeared in such legendary epics as “Ice Pirates,” “Mahogany” and “The Morning After.” A frequent guest on talk shows, Bruce won his Emmys for co-writing back-to-back Oscar shows with Billy Crystal. He’s written 16 Oscar-casts so far, as well as a number of Tonys, Grammys, and even Emmys, although he never got an Emmy for writing an Emmy – that would be award-show incest of the lowest order. His bizarre career was documented in the film “Get Bruce!,” released by Miramax and perpetually available on Buena Vista Home Video.

Bruce’s one-man show, “Almost Famous,” tickled Off-Broadway audiences for three months and has made a number of appearances around the country. He is frequently mistaken for Brad Pitt. This is Bruce’s fifth appearance in a “Help is on the Way” production. . TOP
