Marilu's entire life is a testimony to the power of her approach to health. That energy and her extraordinary talents as an actress were unleashed to rave reviews on Broadway as "Roxie Hart" in "Chicago," across the country as "Annie" in the National Company of "Annie Get Your Gun" and most recently as "Lee" the sexy provocative stranger in "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife." Marilu started her professional acting career starring in the first national touring company of "Grease," later appearing with the Broadway company. This was followed by "Over Here," "Pal Joey," and later in "Social Security" directed by Mike Nichols. Marilu worked on the
TV show "Taxi," with Judd Hirsch, Danny DeVito, Tony Danza,
Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Conaway, Carol Kane, and Andy Kaufman. Later she
worked on "Evening Shade," side by side with some of the most
talented actors around; Burt Reynolds, Charles Durning, Elizabeth Ashley,
Michael Jeter, and Hal Holbrook. Finally she converted her ease as a talk-show
guest into adeptness as a talk-show host with the "Marilu show".
Steering the project by relentless curiosity, she undertook issues to
explore them, not to exploit them. Braiding together
her skills, experiences, and resources; Marilu discovered a deep and satisfying
role using her entertainment arena. Again using the image of the whole
system, she set her eye on worldwide social problems. Bringing her message
of good health and vibrant living to new and growing audiences, Marilu
premiered a new television series "Shape Up Your Life" on Discovery's
FitTV network. The show continues to be a fan favorite.
While working on her talk show, Ricki still continued to act. In 1996, Ricki starred alongside Brendan Frasier in the comedy “Mrs. Winterbourne.” She also played an armature crime solver in the made for TV movie, “Murder She Purred, A Mrs. Murphy Mystery.” Working again with John Waters in 2000, Ricki made a cameo in the film “Cecil B. Demented” and held a recurring role on “The King of Queens” playing Stephanie Heffernan. On March 22, 1997, Ricki gave birth to her first child, Milo Sebastian Sussman. On Monday, June 18th, 2001, Owen Tyler Sussman was born. Although frequently active in the community, after becoming a new mom, Ricki has helped even more charities and organizations. She walked 60 miles in 3 days for the "Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk Crusade" to raise money for breast cancer. "It really hit home to know someone my age can be diagnosed with breast cancer. It made me want to get involved, and do something." Lake repeated the cause in October 2002, again taking place in New York City. Ricki also performed in "The Vagina Monologues," spreading the message about violence against women. In June 2003 and 2004, Lake attended a celebrity carnival benefiting the Elizabeth Galser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Through her talk show, Ricki worked with The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and produced PSA's that were shown on television shows and on websites. Ricki’s contract agreement with distributor Sony Pictures Television ran out in 2004. Although Sony Pictures Television had stations signed up for a 12th season, she chose not to renew her contract. A possible sitcom deal with CBS for the following fall did not get picked up. In the summer of 2006, Ricki hosted the hit CBS series “Gameshow Marathon.” The show paid tribute to classic game shows such as “The Price is Right” and featured celebrities playing for charities of their choice. Ricki also completed work on an indie film called “Park,” starring alongside Cheri Oteri and William Baldwin. “The Business of Being Born,” a documentary produced by Ricki Lake premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The film follows several couples as they choose to have a natural birth and discusses alternative optional to hospital birth. Ricki shares her own story of her second birth, which she had at home. This is Ricki's first appearance in a "Help is on the Way" production. TOP

" Wood has an earthy, deep voice capable of soaking subtext into just about every syllable she utters. Her moving delivery, coupled with a spare but infectious arrangement, demands the ear of triple-A, AC and even mainstream rock enthusiasts” - Larry Flick, Billboard Magazine; “What will strike you most about Wood’s music is her sultry, sexy voice, but if you get past that, you will find subtly crafted tunes of immense sophistication and insight” - John Schoenberg, The Album Network; “Lauren has a special knack for mixing arresting lyrics with haunting melodies to capture special moments in time that relate not only to her but to everyone. The CD deserves to be played next to the Eric Claptons and Shawn Colvins of the world – with it’s melodies and sounds, the fun, the various flavors, and the hints of influences- especially a certain Liverpool group from the 60’s” - Bob Blackburn, Westwood One Radio Networks; and “One of the most impressive mainstream pop arrivals in some time. Wood displayed the convincing emotion that distinguishes superior artists from the razzle-dazzle effects that so often hamper mainstream pop figures” - Robert Hilburn, Los Angeles Times. This is Lauren's first appearance in a "Help is on the Way' production. TOP
