Peter Mars has been the leader of Chicago’s Avant Pop Movement for the past fifteen years. Combining avant-garde innovation with a deep Pop Art sensibility, Mars fuses and confuses the traditional distinctions between high culture and low art. The artist’s sensibilities fall somewhere between Dada and Pop, “In that area where nonsense and popular culture so frequently meet.” These pieces donated by Johnston Arts.

Thomas Grønbukt started painting in oil, acrylic and pastels six years ago. His color choices infuse his landscapes with an emotional dimension that runs from breezy to intense. He credits his mother, a fabric designer, with laying the foundation for his sense of color and design. "She was always focused on color harmony, warms and cools," he remembers. Since graduating in the fall 2001, Grønbukt has decided to make the United States his home and to pursue his fine art while serving as a drawing and painting instructor at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Ron Campbell is the only animator in America to have directed and animated on both "The Beatles Yellow Submarine" and the ABC television series "The Saturday Morning Beatles." Born in 1939 in Australia, Mr.. Cambell has been a force in animation for the past 4 decades. His animation credits include "Beetle Bailey," "Crazy Kat" and "Cool McCool" as well as some of the early "Sesame Street" shows. In the early 80s he drew a majority of the storyboards for "The Smurfs" and was a storyboard artist for "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." In the 90s his credits included "Bonkers," "Goof Troop," "Darkwing Duck" "The Rugrats," Rocket Power" and "Duckman" and nominated for an Emmy for his work for "Ahh! Real Monsters."
